Sorry not much time for a good old write up. But I do feel that the Germany should at least win by 1 goal tonight against an injury ravaged Turkish. Ofc Turkey is not a bad team and with their never die attitude impossible is nothing but I think the missings really going to take it tolls still.

Japan have some missings today. This game is without any significance since both team are qualified. Except this will decide who will take first place. Japan in a must win situation if they wanted to be #1 in the group. But I doubt Bahrain going to give up easily, afterall Bahrain is in the top of the group not without any reason. Maximum stake for me.

Two very good teams will face against each other. Of course form wise Portugal is now above the Panzer. I will go for Portugal on the handicap with maximum stake today. Portugal has got more rests while they are also the form team in this match. Moreover, Joachim Low wouldn't be able to rally his team today in the dressing room and another plus for Portugal here.
Of course there is the danger that the Germany put up a show, since they are a good tournament team and can make a lot of surprises. It is risky to go maximum stake. But I'm willing to take it, since a draw would only mean we lost half of our stake. The equation in this match is simple. On form team + Scolari's last tournament (extra motivation) + Joachim's Low touchline ban + More rest = Taking Portugal :)
Tonight the only thing that could prevent this bet from winning is if the Germany put up their act together and start playing to their potential. However, Rome wasn't built in a day and I think it would take a lot from them to be at their peak after such poor display. I'm not saying it is impossible, but it won't be easy.

Pick: Russia (+0) Result: 2-0 Stake: 10/10 Odds: 1.95 Bookmaker: Pinnacle vCash: Yes
Posted: Jun 18, 2008, 17:48

Sweden is the more experienced team here without a doubt. Mellberg and Hansson had a solid game against Spain last time. Today we can expect probably a similar attitude from the Swedish since they only need a draw due to a better GD. They will be tough to break without a doubt and will be dangerous on the counter.
On the other hand we have a Russian team who will need to attack and so far their defensive line is nothing to be proud of. Sure they kept a clean sheet against Greece. However, the Greek attacking department is also as dull as a used pencil.
Nevertheless, I would still side with the Russian today. The return of Arshavin is a big boost. True he hasn't played for a while, however that does not mean he will be useless for this match. He will provide a creative spark in the Russian attack and I've been impressed by his form this season. It is either make or break for him tonight. No doubt he will be heavily marked, however if he could get through few killer passes and perhaps found the right player in the right situation it would be good for them. Or the other case is, he absorb Swedish players' attention which is always a bonus since it allows other less known player the chance to make something. Moreover, Russian players are young, the speed factor could be a crucial one against an older Swedish team. In Hiddink, I also believe that he will have some tactical measure put in place to patch up his shaky defense. Furthermore, Ibrahimovic without shadow of doubt one of their most dangerous man is not at his best and will most likely play with painkiller. This is a bonus for Russian squad.
People might call me crazy, but if they managed to beat the like of England in qualification, impossible is nothing in this tournament. I will go maximum stake backing the Russian in this handicap.

Pick: Italy (+0) Result: 0-2 Stake: 10/10 Odds: 1.88 Bookmaker: Pinnacle vCash: Yes
Posted: Jun 17, 2008, 18:00

France and Italy, choosing a winner is like flipping a coin. Two big teams who had been absolutely below par in this tournament.
However, I will side with Italy today. France attack looked dull in my oppinion. Sure they have Ribery who was playing in style while Govou also perform for them last week. However, their main hitman Thierry Henry is in very bad form. Gomis not looking too sharp when he came on and Anelka is just on poor form. French backline is also not that impressive with the likes of Thuram getting slow but we can't blame him for this if we take into account his age.
On the other hand, the Italian is not much better either but they have an inform striker in Luca Toni. He should of had marked his first goal last week if not due to linesman's fault. I also liked the fact that Gattuso is not playing, I feel De Rossi is doing a better job. Tonight Cassano will get the chance to start, two in form striker compared to French out of form striking force. I think the choice is clear for me.
Surely I will go with max stake for this one. I do feel Italy have the higher chance of winning. This might be a risky bet to take with full stake, but I'm willing to do so.

Pick: Austria (+1.25) Result: 0-1 Stake: 10/10 Odds: 1.90 Bookmaker: Bet365 vCash: Yes
Posted: Jun 16, 2008, 20:18

The only host remaining in the competition. We all would never have rated Austria to be in this position. In fact if there is one host tournament deserved to qualify would probably be the Switzerland, however luck was not with them. Austria displayed a strong performance last week, despite being shaky after conceeding. However, they keep their heads high and managed to get a somewhat controversial penalty.
Today its a do or die match. It is Austria last chance, and I really think they will fight really hard in front of their public. Even if they do lose, it wouldn't be by more than 1 goal. And if they do play like how they do against Croatia, I can even see a surprise Austria win. Maximum stake form me!

Pick: Spain (-0.75) Result: 1-2 Stake: 10/10 Odds: 1.85 Bookmaker: Bet365 vCash: Yes
Posted: Jun 14, 2008, 17:02

Spain is on form now. We all saw how they trash the Russian last time. However this can also be dedicated due to Russian's centre -backs error. And against Sweden which is much solid at the back, I don't see such things happens again. However, Sweden lineup will slightly be weakened with the absences of Alexandersson which will be replaced by Stoor, while Wilhelmsson will be replaced by S. Larsson.
On the other hand we have Spain team in full gear. I will go maximum stake for this bet. I can see the Spaniards at least winning by 1 goal. Winning by more than this margin wouldn't be an easy task since Sweden is a good team but I think a win would be very beneficial for this team right now. Spain is prone to choking during knockout phase on big tournaments, a good rest would certainly help to make core players fit on the big day. And a good rest would only happen if Spain win this clash today and ensure qualification. If Torres and Villa hit top gear tonight, it is not impossible that we could see another very strong offensive performance by the Spaniards.

Pick: Germany (-0.75) Result: 2-1 Stake: 8/10 Odds: 1.98 Bookmaker: Canbet vCash: Yes
Posted: Jun 12, 2008, 16:27

Germany is the favorites tonight and they deserved so. Croatia has performed poorly against Austria and were lucky to go away with a win. Well nothing much I could say for this match. Apart that we all know the form team in this match is the Germany and I'll be rooting on them tonight. They are much better man to man form wise. Even though Croatia had every chances of upsetting since they have good quality, but the form is not there.
Despite that, I expect them to battles hard this time around knowing their opponent is not Austria and performances similar to the one before would surely get Croatian national team nowhere. So we should expect a battling Croatian tonight but I still do think that Germany will be triumphant in a tight fashion. A good bet maybe to cover for this incase theres a draw or upset croatia win would be TG Under 2. I fail to see many goals in this match. Croatia would most likely closing their play down and they have a good defensive line, so it could be a succesful one. And the German will also be happy with a one goal victory.
And it is good to obtain a victory now, so the Germans can ensure qualification and perhaps doing Austria their close "friend" a favour. Since if Germany were to qualify now, they might be able to give Austria something next round like a draw. I'm not sure what year was this, but it was in the world cup, Germany won 1-0 which was a perfect result for both and it happened. Perhaps Germany to return to favour this time ? I don't know, this is just a side talk not something to influence our decision.
I'll go with a high stake for this one. Hopefully my bad streak ends here.
